As reported by the BBC, temporary modular housing units will be placed in Cornwall for NHS employees
The Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) is placing six of the home pods in a car park in Redruth. The modular units will be built by Zed Pods.
“I hope, by providing some of our new starters with short-term accommodation, we will enable them to settle into their new role without having to worry about where they’ll live too, especially if they are new to the area,” says Debbie Richards, CEO of CFT.
The pods are installed furnished, allowing for quick and effective settlement by staff. Each unit is equipped with a lockable door, a study space and can be occupied by two people with individual bedrooms for up to 3 months.
The Kitchen, dining area and bathroom space will be shared between the pair. Roofs will also be furnished with solar panels for electricity and hot water.
The new units are hoped to attract more workers into the NHS by offering compact and ready accomodation for staff in Cornwall.
