As reported by the BBC, New Health Secretary Therese Coffey has selected key areas of the NHS to work on
New Health Secretary, Therese Coffey, is implementing a new alphabetised system to work on the NHS, that is, the A, B, C and D.
These stand for ambulance, backlogs, care and doctors and dentists. The four categories are compartmentalised areas set for improvement by Coffey.
With the NHS at its worst, the new health secretary will have to make tremendous effort to tackle the upsurge of vacancies accounting for one tenth of the NHS workforce.
There is however an optimistic perception for the changes she will bring.
“She’s got attention to detail, a laser-like focus and a proven track record at the Department for Work and Pensions,” says a former government adviser and colleague of Ms Coffey.
As a previous work and pensions secretary, Coffey worked to improve the benefits system and succeeded in transferring people from benefits into the working world.
While plans to reorganise the NHS are in talks, Liz Truss’ endeavour to remove the rise in NI used to pay for the reform could possibly cause further delay.
