How to kick-start your motivation after working from home

Let’s face it, it’s easy for your motivation at work to take a slump after working from home for a long time, and it’s hard to feel fired up again

Here’s how to boost your energy, and get your productivity back on track, when facing the office for the first time in a long time.

Arrive early

Try to get into the office before everyone arrives and you’re pulled in different directions with administrative demands. While it can be challenging to get yourself motivated to go into work early after not getting up as early for a long time, you’ll be able to focus intently on your to-do list when it’s quiet and get the ball rolling on what you need to accomplish that day.

Don’t procrastinate

Move those ‘I don’t want to’ priority assignments to the top of your list and get them done. Maybe you need to call some clients about late payments, or let one of your team members know what their goals for improvement are; when you finish unpleasant tasks like these, a weight will be lifted and you’ll have nothing but positive work ahead of you.

Achieve your career goals

Another way to boost your motivation is to review how you performed against your professional goals from last year. It’s hard to maintain the hum-drum if you’re excited about your successes and setting a new challenge for the future, like earning your certification or finding a new job.

Get healthy

This may already be one of your personal goals, but it’s also valuable to your productivity at work. Your motivation levels can change a lot depending on what you’ve been eating and whether you’ve been good about going to the gym. Even little actions – like drinking more water – can help you feel more alert at the office.

Take your breaks

It’s easy to write-off break time when you’re busy, but doing this will only contribute to burnout. Make sure you’re giving yourself time to recharge.

It can be hard to get back into office-mode after working from home for a long time, but following these tips can help you break through that demotivated fog.
