As reported by the BBC, children and parents are being incentivised to take the flu vaccine ahead of winter
The free vaccine in the form of a nasal spray is being administered to children that have not yet started school.
The vaccination aims to reduce to the risk of spreading the flu to more susceptible family members as schools are soon set to reopen.
“I’d urge all parents and carers of children aged two to five to look out for their child’s appointment letter and get their child vaccinated ahead of winter,” said Public Health Minister, Maree Todd.
In cases where the nasal spray may not be adequately issued, the vaccine will be discharged in the form of an arm injection.
Older students in primary and secondary are set to receive the spray in schools as from September. Secondary school pupils have the ability to consent to intaking the vaccine without parental approval.
