48 hour industrial action announced by the RCN over wage disputes

As reported by the BBC, the Royal College of Nursing will have its longest walkout in history in order to further pressure the government to take action

The RCN has announced a 48-hour strike from March 1st to the 3rd for the first time. Previous industrial action spanned a maximum length of 12 hours.

For the first time, nurses working in emergency care such as cancer treatment are also being asked to take part in the strike.

“We are working closely with NHS England on contingency plans, but this action will inevitably cause further disruption,” says Steve Barclay, health secretary.

Over 100 healthcare services are expected to be affected by the strikes.
