As reported by the BBC, health secretary, Stephen Barclay, is open to pay dispute discussions with the Royal College of Nursing
The health secretary, Stephen Barclay and Pat Cullen, RCN leader, are set to have a discussion in order to solve the pay dispute given the new pay rise due in April.
The previous salary rise saw an increase of approximately 4.75% while the government forecasted an increase of 3.5% as from April.
“We will put our plans on the table, they can put their plans on the table – but I’m confident that we will come out with a fair pay settlement for our nursing staff,” says Cullen.
Other healthcare departments have expressed their discontentment at not having been asked to be a part of the discussions with Barclay.
The talks have put a stop to the RCN strikes that were supposed to take place on March 1st to March 3rd.
Strikes from ambulance drivers and junior doctors are still predicted as dates are yet to be announced.
