Dear Sir
GPs have not ‘abandoned’ their patients who live in care homes, and to imply otherwise is wrong.
GPs are committed to providing the same high quality of care to all their patients during the COVID-19 pandemic as in normal times, although this may be delivered differently than usual, via telephone or video. In cases where remote consultations are not suitable, arrangements will be made for a face-to-face consultation. However, this is being kept to a minimum for good reason: to protect care home residents and staff, as well as other patients seen by GPs and their teams, against the spread of the virus.
