As reported by Digital Health, NHS England is investigating a cyber incident at UCLH and Southampton Trusts
NHS England is currently investigating a cyber incident involving University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
According to a UCLH spokesperson, the incident occurred in early May 2025 and involved a software product used to manage the trust’s mobile phones and tablets.
“The product, which did not contain patient data or staff passwords, was briefly compromised,” the spokesperson confirmed. “It was made secure swiftly.”
While sensitive patient data was not affected, the compromised software did include some staff mobile numbers and International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers. The trust is now in the process of contacting the affected staff members.
“We want to reassure patients and staff that we are committed to protecting their data and privacy and we are investigating this matter thoroughly with NHS England’s cyber security response team,” the spokesperson added.
The investigation is ongoing, and both trusts are working closely with NHS England to ensure the incident is fully resolved and appropriate cyber security measures are in place.
