As reported by the BBC, COVID cases are expected to rise in autumn and winter

Autumn COVID booster jabs are set to be distributed to housebound and care home residents on the 5th of September.

The vaccination sites will be run by GP practices and pharmacies with the booster becoming available to elder citizens and at-risk patients as from the 12th.

The initiative will run until the beginning of December with eligible groups being:

  • Aged above 50
  • Higher risk individuals below the age of 50 (e.g pregnant women).
  • staff at care homes
  • Frontline health and social care workers
  • aged between 16 to 49 and are carers
  • close to individuals with weaker immune systems.

“Our advice hasn’t changed – if you’re eligible you should make an appointment and come forward for your vaccination as soon as possible,” says Karen Hewinson, head of clinical services at NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
