As reported by the The Guardian, more than a tenth of job postings belong to the healthcare sector, signalling a recruitment crisis
Recent research by the Office for National Statistics indicated that the biggest percentage of job vacancies advertised in December were based in healthcare.
The two roles with the most job adverts across the nation were for support workers and nurses with 31,870 and 21,170 job postings respectively. The low interest in the sector is partly fuelled by the lack of pay rises to healthcare staff amidst the cost of living crisis which has led to strike action.
The healthcare staff demand had surged during the pandemic but the ONS has stated that the demand had been steadily rising since 2017 despite the COVID surge.
