As reported by The Guardian, the sexual health services are in critical need of funding.

The combination of HIV prevention, STIs and monkeypox have left sexual health services in dire need of government funding.

In December 2021, the government had announced a funding of approximately £23,000 to eradicate HIV transmissions by 2030. The action plan was announced on World Aids Day in an effort to continue the progress recorded between 2014 and 2019 which saw a 35% HIV diagnosis decrease in England.

‘We are well on our way towards our ambition of zero HIV transmissions and deaths by 2030,’ had claimed Health and Social Care Secretary, Sajid Javid.

However, some clinics have currently reported a 90% decrease in their ability to provide PrEP and other services.

The government’s negligence is predicted to result in more deaths arising from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
