Speaking to Health Service Journal, college chair Professor Kamila Hawthorne outlined the principal findings of the College’s latest report on general practice infrastructure
Hawthorne drew attention to the fundamental structural inadequacies of many practices in the UK, and the impact this is having on the recruitment and retention of staff, as well as the care provided to patients.
Kamila also called on the government to implement immediate action to bolster primary care funding to ensure that infrastructural shortcomings are addressed, and that general practice has adequate facilities to meet the growing demand for healthcare.
