As reported by the National Health Executive, a national campaign urging parents to vaccinate young children has been launched following a sharp fall in immunisation rates and a resurgence of measles
More than 2,900 measles cases were confirmed in England in 2024 — the highest number recorded in decades. The spike led to the UK losing its World Health Organisation measles elimination status.
Branded “Stay Strong, Get Vaccinated”, the initiative aims to rebuild confidence in childhood immunisations and provide parents with clear, reliable information about the protection vaccines offer against serious disease. Health officials say reversing the decline in uptake is critical to preventing further outbreaks.
The campaign will target parents of children aged under five through a multi-channel rollout. Digital advertising and online video content will feature prominently, alongside social media activity. A 30-second advert will air on television and video-on-demand platforms, and partnerships have been agreed with parenting and gaming websites, including Mumsnet and Netmums.
The programme has been developed in collaboration with NHS England and the UK Health Security Agency to ensure messaging is evidence-based and consistent with national health guidance.
