As reported by Digital Health, a new digital documentation tool is being introduced across local authority social care teams in England, with early evidence suggesting it could significantly ease administrative pressures and boost workforce capacity
FormFlow, rolled out in February 2026, is now in use across councils including Sandwell, Suffolk, Leicestershire, Hertfordshire, Bolton, Trafford, Sefton, Wirral, Lewisham, Thurrock, Kirklees, North East Lincolnshire and Cheshire East. Initial feedback indicates that time spent completing paperwork has been cut by around 50%, while teams report capacity increases of at least 40%.
The tool has been developed by System C, which says its FormFlow Assistant is now supporting 15 local authority teams. The system uses AI-driven support to automate parts of the documentation process, helping practitioners manage workloads more efficiently.
Data from trials conducted in March 2026 suggests further gains, with a 68% improvement in documentation efficiency and a 40% uplift across the full assessment journey. On average, written assessments are being completed between 50% and 75% more quickly.
Councils involved in the rollout also report broader benefits for staff. These include reduced sickness absence, higher job satisfaction and a greater sense of professional value, all of which are seen as important in tackling ongoing recruitment and retention challenges.
The FormFlow Assistant works by using ambient-style technology to capture assessment conversations as they happen, automatically generating draft records within the Liquidlogic case management system. This allows practitioners to spend less time on manual data entry and more time applying their professional judgement during assessments.
